Compensation: $69,000 - $104,000 CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentiveSnapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Preparation of the quarterly Greenhouse Gas Inventory, this involves:
- Taking ownership of the quarterly deliverable timeline
- Calculate the emissions for each source based on data submission from process owners
- Validate emission factors
- Perform walkthroughs with process owners to understand the data source to gain comfort on its accuracy and completeness, including ensuring appropriate controls are in place
- Validate the final emission values within our ALTRUISTIQ online platform
- Perform routine audits of our utilities data housed in our Resource Advisor online platform that supports our environmental performance metric. This involves:
- Follow an established audit program in reviewing invoices for electricity, natural gas and water
- Identify discrepancies and notify the Sustainability Team to follow-up and resolve
- Using the discrepancies identified, calculate the error rate and extrapolate for the full year to understand its potential impact/materiality
- Responsible for the tracking and reporting of the monthly carbon offset retirement process, this involves:
- Maintaining a detailed tracker of our carbon offset inventory and the monthly retirements
- Preparing the monthly and full year forecast
- Annual update of the CER Sustainability Carbon Calculator
- Validation of animal care metric disclosed in the annual Animal Care Performance Report
- Monthly reporting for the Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security (“Centre”), including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, internal statements, and the issuance of donation receipts
- Preparation of the Centre's annual financial statements and annual tax return
- Act as liaison for the Centre's annual audit process with external auditor
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to support projects and business decisions as required
- CPA designation, preferred
- 4 years of progressive finance experience
- Knowledge of CRA tax regulations as related to charitable entities, preferred
- Experience with SAP, preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail
- Experience with non-financial metric/data
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able deal and build relationships with people at all levels in the organization outside of Finance
- Ability to understand process and identify opportunities for improvement to develop and create efficient processes
- Exhibits a keen interest in social and environmental causes and initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
