The Continuing Education department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES (351-504-LA).This course focuses on determining effective interventions for mental health issues. Students will examine the effects of mental health disorders by identifying their manifestations, understanding their impact on personal development and functioning, and recognizing legal consequences. The course includes assessing a person's adaptive potential, assessing risk of suicide, identifying strengths and difficulties, analyzing adaptation capabilities, and understanding individual and family needs. Emphasis is placed on selecting intervention methods that promote empowerment, address cognitive distortions, encourage clean living, combat social isolation, and boost self-esteem. Reviews of theoretical frameworks and practical case studies will enhance students' skills in mental health intervention. Practical recommendations for additional resources will also be covered, ensuring students are equipped to support clients professionally and ethically within various working contexts.Required Qualifications :Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 3 years teaching experience. Teaching experience in special education techniques or a related program such as counselling or clinical psychology, and work experience specific to the mental health client group in the context of special education techniques are required.
