Your RoleYou will be focused on providing frontline people service and responding to a variety of employee inquiries related to the people and culture function. You will work in collaboration with the management team and employees to recommend solutions to everyday people and culture issues to ensure concerns and questions are dealt with promptly and effectively. Under the guidance of our Director, People & Culture, you will provide a broad range of support services which will include but not be limited to a broad scope of employee and labour relations, policy review, investigations, recruitment, and employee recognition.Your Impact
  • You serve as First point of contact for People and Culture queries in the organization.
  • You will oversee the human resource database by ensuring that human resource files and records are accurate, updated and maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
  • You will maintain our comprehensive administrative filing system.
  • You will assist in coordinating special events such as Staff events etc.
  • You will track and manage corporate uniform inventory purchases and sales and prepare the monthly report for financial purposes.
  • You will assist in the administration of practices, policies, and procedures. You will provide advice, direction, and guidance to all levels in the organization on the interpretation and application of these policies and procedures to ensure consistency of standards and compliance.
  • You will work closely with colleagues across the business to monitor, review and update all policies in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • You will manage staff relationships, by building rapport with new hires and soliciting feedback from former employees.
  • You will lead fact-finding meetings and investigations.
  • You will identify employee relations issues and takes appropriate actions to address and resolve those issues.
  • You will provide an advisory service to employees ensuring that they are fully aware of their rights, entitlements and services provided by the department.
  • You will assist the Talent Coordinator with developing recruitment campaigns and with full cycle recruitment of various levels of staff in all departments.
  • You will assist in the design and delivery of development workshops to enhance knowledge and skills within the corporation.
  • You will assist in proactively seeking training & development grants (and equivalent) and support the grant application process.
  • You will proactively keep abreast with developments in employment legislation and human resources best practices, sharing with the team to ensure continuous improvement in the service offered. Identify and communicate these implications to business areas as appropriate.
  • You will contribute and support the continuous improvement of department systems, practices, and policies in the organization, ensuring they underpin our Company culture.
  • You will consult on issues related to workplace relations and performance management.
  • You will provide information on all people and culture programs and services.
  • You will maintain effective communication and implementation of corporate programs to all employees in the company.
  • You will take an active role in creating a safe and healthy work environment.
  • You will perform miscellaneous administrative functions and special projects as assigned by your Director.
Your Accomplishments
  • Completion of High School with post secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • 2 to 3 years of generalist Human Resources Advisor level experience essential.
  • Experience working in a Unionized environment will be considered an asset.
  • CPHR Designation or Candidate Member preferred.
  • You are highly organized and able to prioritize work in a fast paced environment.
  • You have a sound knowledge, understanding and practical application of Employment Law.
  • You have a proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external managers and contacts.
  • Verbal communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization. Confident at delivering feedback.
  • Written communication skills to produce succinct correspondence and reports.
  • You have experience in working effectively with teams.
  • You have experience with MS Office applications and familiarity with Human Resource Management Systems.
  • You have strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • You can deal tactfully and effectively with all levels of contacts inside and outside the organization.
  • You have strong attention to detail.
  • You would be willing to travel to support our business operations. Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
  • You have a demonstrated proficiency in handling matters of highly confidential nature.
  • You show a high degree of initiative and ability to assume a high degree of responsibility.
  • You always exercise sound and independent judgment.
