Schedule: Day ShiftAbout the OpportunityWe are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, high-volume automotive parts manufacturer based in Windsor, Ontario. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering a clear pathway to permanent employment. The successful candidate will join a collaborative engineering team in a technically challenging, fast-paced production environment.This role is ideal for an experienced stamping tooling professional who thrives in supplier management, die development, and cross-functional project environments.What You'll Do
- Oversee tooling supplier APQP activities — including die design reviews, build timelines, cost control, and technical compliance
- Drive cost reduction, productivity improvements, and die life optimization initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Program Management) to source and qualify metal forming and stamping tool suppliers locally and globally
- Lead the technical evaluation and performance assessment of new and existing stamping tool vendors
- Develop, maintain, and release standardized RFQ packages for stamping tooling — covering new programs, production tooling, engineering changes, and major die refurbishments
- Support and lead supplier die tryouts to ensure tooling readiness prior to first-article approval and pre-production launch builds
- Lead tooling and component qualification activities including design reviews, process validation, and capability studies
- Develop and communicate detailed tooling schedules, progress reports, and risk assessments to internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct regular on-site supplier visits with formal documentation of progress, risks, and action items
- Maintain accurate tooling tracking systems to ensure all dies and components are fully production-ready
- Support supplier stamping operations through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of forming, dimensional, and capability issues
- Lead tooling modifications and corrective actions with external suppliers to address quality and performance concerns
- Investigate and recommend design, material, and process improvements for problematic stamping tools
- Develop and deploy standardized internal tooling standards and best practices for metal forming tool suppliers
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies and software to enhance RFQ development, tooling specifications, and stamping component quality
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Canadian university
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of complex, high-precision metal stamping tooling — automotive industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of high-volume automotive production and quality requirements
- Proficiency in CAD and forming simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks, Cimatron, AutoForm, or equivalent)
- Advanced working knowledge of GD&T, measurement techniques, material behavior, and metal forming processes
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proven track record of building and maintaining effective business relationships with global tooling suppliers
- Valid Ontario driver's license and valid Canadian passport (required — proof must be provided upon hire)
- Ability and willingness to travel for on-site supplier visits and technical support
- Competitive salary: $75,000 – $110,000 CAD depending on experience
