Job Description:HM Note: This onsite contract role is in office every day at the manager's discretion. Candidate resumes must include first and last name, email and telephone contact information. Candidate training will be conducted at the client's Oshawa office (first 4-6 weeks) and the regular work location would be at the downtown Toronto office.DescriptionDeliverables:
  • Provide advanced, specialized technical co-ordination of the development, testing and implementation of JCL, reporting functions and other tools, support for monitoring of email input queue, batch processing input through the use of SFTP/FTP/IND$ file transfers.
  • Provide a leadership role for ensuring that ITIL processes are followed, specifically incident, change and release, to support ICON application transactional processing.
  • Provides expert technical advice to clients on the ICON application process, procedures/processes and leadership and co-ordination to support future automation of the ICON application.
  • Advanced knowledge of mainframe utilities (e.g. TSO/ISPF, JCL, SFTP, FTP, IND$) and desktop software (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, Internet applications).
  • Knowledge of the Mainframe to execute transactional processing to set up overnight files for processing.
The job requires in depth, advanced knowledge of and extensive experience with Batch processing for large mainframe environments, ministry standard/commonly used and customized applications, software, databases and application recovery procedures to meet client requirements and conform to corporate systems standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise in processing file transfers for transactional processing for overnight processing with client acknowledgement for files received and technical guidance/training to another resource for client ministry's mission critical ICON application. This application is mission critical and is a public-facing application. Some functions may require providing on-call to support daily operations and release and change implementations.
  • Leads the analysis, interpretation, evaluation and resolution of batch processing incidents/problems and provides technical support for incident management.
  • Leads the identification of root cause for client incidents and implements solutions to restore processing issues in accordance with established guidelines and ITIL processes.
  • Ensures procedures are updated and maintained as environment and processes change.
  • Leads and co-ordinates the implementation of changes/releases as required.
SkillsExperience and Skill Set RequirementsEvaluation Breakdown1. Enterprise Tier 4 Mainframe Infrastructure experience - 30%Parameters:
  • 10+ years, experience providing oversight to support mainframe batch processing.
  • Demonstrated experience in a large enterprise complex environment.
  • Provides updates to procedures, reporting and other tools, support for online and batch processing, and SFTP/FTP/IND$ file transfers.
  • Support to clients on all email requests, monitoring email queue and responding to inquiries and confirmations of each file transfer with each client, testing and implementation activities for ICON application processing.
  • Experience with application recovery procedures to meet client requirements and conform to corporate systems standards.
  • Provides expert technical advice to clients on transactional processing, procedures/processes and leadership and co-ordination to support automation of client production applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Mainframe technologies and utilities (e.g., ISPF, file transfer protocols, mainframe dataset structures, JCL) as well as EATS, Email, Microsoft Office suite and reporting to ensure timely input of batch processing transactions.

3. Documentation and Communication Skills - 15%Parameters:
  • Demonstrated experience with procedures and operational documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management activities.
  • Demonstrated ability for strong communication and writing skills.
4. knowledge with Mainframe batch processing in a support role and Project Management - 15%Parameters:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and operational support experience with Mainframe batch processing in a large scale environment similar as the Government of Ontario and 10+ years demonstrated experience in complex projects related to migrations and tool implementations.
Must Have: * 10+ years, experience providing oversight to support mainframe batch processing.
