As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Lead, Business Operations Quality & Utilization Management, the Transfusion Practice Coordinator, is responsible for leading projects, activities, and best practice initiatives to strengthen clinical transfusion safety across the province. This role collaborates with leaders and stakeholders including transfusion medicine clinical and technical professionals and physicians at both the provincial and national level. The coordinator will represent PBCO on local and provincial committees related to transfusion safety.What you’ll do
  • Leads processes and planning initiatives aimed at transfusion safety in collaboration with provincial stakeholders; provides expert consultation on transfusion practices and delivery of education; develops, monitors, and evaluates resources for providers; and participates in internal, local, provincial, and national committees and projects.
  • Promotes evidence-based, patient-centered practice and shares knowledge about current research and literature to advance the quality and consistency of transfusion safety. Scans the environment and the literature to identify emerging practice trends and supports knowledge translation and exchange though interdisciplinary local and provincial partnerships.
  • Leads and coordinates projects and committees including managing timelines, deliverables, and financial reporting.
  • Actively engages and consults with professional disciplines at all levels of the organization and beyond the Health Authority. Provides provincial leadership including chairing the Provincial Nursing Resource Group (NRG).
  • Utilizes a provincial perspective to identify areas and opportunities for evidence-based education and improved transfusion safety through networking, collaboration, and assessment of needs.
  • Establishes opportunities to create partnerships and develop formal relationships with provincial stakeholders and partners to support the planning and implementation of provincial priorities. Uses creativity and problem-solving to resolve issues with respect to competing priorities with an emphasis on facilitating productive relationships.
  • Supports the development of clinical practice guidelines and practice support tools relevant to transfusion safety with consideration for the continuum from acute to community in conjunction with clinical leadership and provincial partners as appropriate. Participates in evaluations of outreach education initiatives.
What you bringQualifications
  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Masters preferred, including a minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience with a preference for transfusion experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing adult education tools and documents. Demonstrated ability in leading change, inspiring and engaging others and promoting innovation. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and participation and supportive of the learning of others. Uses evidence based knowledge to guide practice. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels, both internal and external to the PHSA. Flexibility to travel provincially and nationally.

Job Type: Regular, Part-TimeSalary Range: $86,398 - $124,197 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
