Office of the Dean of Students (Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education (OSVRSE))Position Summary:Under the direct supervision of the Sexual Violence Education Advisor (Outreach), the candidate will provide assistance with the coordination of initiatives that seek to raise awareness about and prevent sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) on McGill campuses. The Program Assistant will supervise a team of volunteers dedicated to facilitating workshops for students and collaborating with partners to organize events on McGill campuses.The position would be up to 10 hours per week for the academic year. Training and onboarding would take place in person, and , the job is a mix of in-person and remote work throughout the year.Job Content – Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Become proficient in OSVRSE’s workshops: How to Respond to Disclosures and Becoming an Active Bystander
- Support the Sexual Violence Education Advisor with the design and delivery of workshops and other teaching and learning support activities (e.g., panels, webinars, resources)
- Assist with the organization and coordination of one-time events and outreach activities (e.g., tabling)
- Communicate with stakeholders (i.e., University partners, speakers and/or participants)
- Gather and summarize information used for planning and evaluation (e.g. interviews, surveys)
- Lead a team of 5 to 10 volunteers
- Support the Sexual Violence Education Advisor in volunteer training (September/October) and ongoing professional development
- Assist with OSVRSE communication endeavours
- Assist with the preparation of project documents and reports and make recommendations for future years
- Returning student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Eligible for McGill’s
- Must have your own laptop/device with access to social media
- Ability to take initiative and display leadership skills
- Excellent oral, written, and visual communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong information literacy skills (i.e., ability to define research terms, search online databases, journals, websites, amalgamate information, and critically evaluate resources)
- Ability to work with Office 365
- Experience facilitating workshops an asset
- Experience with event coordination an asset
- Experience with volunteer coordination an asset
- Experience and/or interest and knowledge of consent, sex positivity and sexual violence prevention is an asset
