The success candidate will lead university-wide teaching and learning strategy to enhance instructional quality and student success, overseeing faculty support, educational technology, and student-focused programs. The Director engages faculty, academic leaders, students, and campus partners to drive innovation, alignment, and continuous improvement.Responsibilities/accountabilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Teaching and Learning Centre, advancing initiatives that enhance teaching excellence and student success
- Develop and execute a Centre-wide strategic plan aligned with institutional priorities, and assess the impact and effectiveness of programs and services
- Build strong partnerships with faculties, academic leaders, and student support units to advance teaching and learning priorities and support student success
- Lead the design and delivery of professional development that promotes innovative, technology-enabled teaching practices
- Drive the development of online and hybrid learning strategies, fostering innovation and effective integration of emerging technologies
- Oversee instructional development initiatives, including educational media, microcredentials, open education, and student transition programs
- Manage the Centre's budget and resources, ensuring effective allocation and alignment with strategic and financial goals
- Knowledgeable of learning theory and evidence-information teaching practices, including use of technology to enhance learning
- Demonstrated competence in working collaboratively with university personnel and students
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams
- Evidence of innovation and creativity, as well as excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and learner support
- Strong knowledge of learning outcomes at both the course and program levels
- Ability to supports equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenization in the learning environment and acknowledges the diverse ideas and the interests of all stakeholders in decision making
- Familiarity with faculty roles and expectations
- Strong interpersonal and team skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic, institution-wide teaching and learning initiatives and drive organizational change
- Strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and indigenization in higher education
- Expertise in data-informed decision-making, learning analytics, and program evaluation
- Exceptional relationship-building, facilitation, and communication skills across diverse stakeholders
- Completion of a university program consisting of four academic years
- Master's or PhD degree preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
- Verification of Academic credentials may be required
- 7-10 years leadership experience in a post-secondary environment, university preferred
- Teaching experience at the university level
