A Senior Crew Chief is defined on our Paul Davis Career path, as having a minimum of 4 IICRC Certifications or the equivalent experience. They hold the characteristics of a leader to support multiple crews. Under the general supervision of the Mitigation Manager, the Senior Crew Chief not only leads their direct crew but understands that they are the guiding example for the department and all other Crew Chiefs and their crew members. They have the ability, confidence and knowledge to lead multiple crews when responding to all activities of emergency services and exemplify the Paul Davis way in which they should be completed.   • Professionally represents the Paul Davis principles of honesty and integrity.
  • Serves as the point person and first responder for every assigned emergency loss across both residential and commercial losses.
  • Adopts a leadership role within the department across all Crew Chiefs, Technicians and General Labourers.
  • Act as a leader on all jobs for Quality workmanship, Health & Safety and Brand Awareness.
  • Conducts crew training in Customer Service, Polices & Procedures, best practice and recommends training opportunities.
General Tasks· Cut, bag and lift bags of damaged drywall, carpet, pad, and assorted debris.· Move heavy equipment in and out of vehicles and into buildings where it is needed.· Move contents of building safely into secure storage.· Source materials & equipment needed on job sites.· Establishes and records the scope of work to be accomplished.· Coordinates, supervises, and actively participates with all emergency work.· Oversees equipment maintenance and expendables (to include maintaining MSDS sheets on assigned vehicle).· Acts as the lead communicator with management and customers.· Performs on-call mitigation and emergency work, both on rotation and on demand due to extraordinary circumstances.· Able to climb a ladder.· Complete daily vehicle checks, along with promoting and supervising the completion across the mitigation fleet.· Always maintain a clean and safe vehicle, along with promoting and supervising the standard across the mitigation fleet.· Follows established safety practices including the proper use of PPE when required.· Conducts meetings regarding safety, chemicals, equipment, and any other beneficial topics which would benefit the crews and department.A Senior Crew Chief must hold or be working towards any of the following IICRC or Industry Specific Certifications:

  • Applied Structural Drying
  • Fire & Smoke
  • Asbestos Worker
  • Asbestos Supervisor
  • Applied Microbial Restoration Technician
  • Trauma and Crime scene
  • Infectious control
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures of water, fire, and mold trades.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, solutions, and use of solvents.
  • Ability to troubleshoot & problem solve independently and in collaboration with management.
  • Ability to teach and exhibit techniques and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Ability to use and maintain hand, power, and truck mounted tools.
  • Ability to develop, learn, and properly apply operating and work procedures.
  • Ability to plan and organize work to be completed through the emergency/mitigation phase of the customer's job.
  • Able to troubleshoot and offer solutions as issues arise.
  • Must hold crew, sub-contractors accountable when standards are not reached through coaching and training.
  • Ability to read and interpret written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to meet predetermined deadlines.
  • Ability to safely move and relocate heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to exercise judgment when to act independently and when to refer situations to an administrator.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts.
  • To coach, mentor, and train peer Crew Chiefs to develop their skillset and industry knowledge.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees, contractors/vendors, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
Possession of a valid Ontario G class Driver's License and a clean driving record is required at the time of hiring and must be maintained while employed.
