
Naval Sonar Operations Instructional Systems Designer

- Identifying and contributing to the Master Training Plan and training material as it directly relates to a variety of navies' standards including the Qualification Standard and Plan (QSP) and related policy documentation
- Authoring Master Lesson Plans (MLP) and conducting related activities including media analysis and production of student handouts, instructor guides, quizzes, tests, assignments and other presentation materials based predominately on a knowledge of the Combat Management System (CMS) and its underwater subsystems
- Establishing a detailed understanding with regards to Naval Sonar Operations training, courses and standards
- Conducting training delivery as a Naval Sonar Operations instructor or eLearning facilitator, including lectures, presentations, demonstrations, practical hands-on leadership, assignments, tests, quizzes, marking and associated administration
- Supporting Computer-Based Training activities through data collection, storyboarding/scripting, reviews, workshops and other related activities pertaining to Naval Sonar Operations
- Supporting the courseware review cycle by adapting and evolving training materials and documentation based on customer review activities and through regular liaison with technical and development staff
- Support a flexible work schedule, including travel and overtime when necessary to support program, team, and customer schedules
- Recent experience or a demonstrated capacity to develop training material and instruct in a classroom environment
- Background in Naval Sonar Operations
- Detailed knowledge of Lockheed Martin's CMS 330
- Openness to support Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Synthetic Environment Advance Combat Operator Trainer (SEACOT) and Synthetic Environment Advanced Warfare Operations & Leadership Facility (SEAWOLF) collective training events in the Underwater Warfare Commander role
- Openness to support RCN Naval Fleet School (NFS) in lesson plan integration and scenario development
- Openness to support RCN classroom and trainer mentoring focusing on CMS 330 operations, tactical updates and Operations Room procedures
- A solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office product suite including MS Project
- Experience with training needs analysis, course scheduling, training materials authoring and training conduct
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience
- Experience with eLearning software (Storyline, domiKnow) and Learning Management Systems is an asset
- Experience with Military trainers and synthetic training solutions considered an asset
- It is considered an asset to have experience as an instructor at Naval Fleet School coupled with an understanding of the DND training system Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System (CFITES) and standards organizations (Training Quality Control and Assurance).
