Your goal in this position is to manage and monitor employee illness and injuries. You will do this by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of care providers, with an emphasis on the assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of patient health. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, learners, volunteers and families.On a practical level, you will
- Develop, implement and administer the Ability Management Program of the Occupational Health & Safety Department
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with staff and other members of the health care team
- Think critically, set priorities and organize work in response to needs
- Develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, managers and unions
- Work in collaboration with the Occupational Health Nurses, Rehabilitation Specialist, Safety Specialist and the Occupational Health Physician.
- Be responsible for STD, LTD and WSIB claims and case management.
- Work with managers and employees to design modified work programs.
- Ensure that documentation from respective Health Care Professionals is appropriate.
- Ensure that all decisions and actions taken are in strict accordance with current legislation and regulations, Hospital Policies and Procedures.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Management Partners to ensure that the Collective Agreements are followed in accordance with the Hospital and its respective unions.
- Diploma or Certification in Rehabilitation Case Management (RRP and/or CCRC).
- Certification of Employee Benefits Program (CEBs) an asset.
- Degree or Diploma in an Allied Health Program preferred.
- Minimum three to five years related experience.
- Experience in Claims and Case Management for Short and Long Term Disability in a hospital/health care setting (HOODIP)
- Claims Management experience with WSIB.
- Principles of Adult Education.
- Excellent Computer Skills required, knowledge of MS Office software and Parklane an asset.
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset
