This role is ideal for an early career estimator looking to deepen their technical skills, gain exposure to complex infrastructure projects, and grow within a structured, team based preconstruction environment.What you will do
Reporting to the Preconstruction Manager and working closely with senior estimators and project stakeholders, you will:
- Contribute to the full bid and preconstruction lifecycle, supporting estimating activities from early review through tender submission.
- Perform detailed and accurate quantity take offs in accordance with drawings, specifications, and divisional standards.
- Define and document scopes of work in alignment with master form divisional specifications.
- Prepare and issue subcontractor requisition packages by discipline, supporting the procurement of competitive pricing.
- Assist in identifying project specific pricing for labour, equipment, materials, and subcontracted work.
- Accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications with a strong attention to detail.
- Support schedule driven pricing by understanding construction sequencing and the overall construction lifecycle.
- Participate in constructability reviews and assist with the identification of risks, constraints, and opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of client pricing requirements and project feasibility considerations.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with trade partners, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Contribute ideas and innovative approaches that support value, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- 1-3 years of relevant estimating experience in the construction or civil infrastructure industry.
- A University Degree, College Diploma, or Certificate in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field - or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- Experience supporting bid preparation, quantity take offs, or cost analysis on construction projects.
- Strong analytical skills and a disciplined, detail oriented approach to work.
- The ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
- A solid understanding of the construction bid process and a willingness to learn and grow within a structured preconstruction function.
