Please log in to verify your internal candidate status.This position has a term length of 2 years, with the possibility of renewal.Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.The Teacher Support and Faculty Development Administrator optimizes the educator experience within the MD Program across multiple sites. This position coordinates the end-to-end lifecycle of faculty engagement, from onboarding new preceptors to ensuring all instructors receive appropriate training and recognition. This position is responsible for maintaining teacher databases, reconciling instructor lists, and collaborating with administrators and leadership to ensure faculty are remunerated and acknowledged for their contributions. The role involves designing and implementing online faculty development modules to maintain high instructional standards. As well, the position will lead evaluations and provide data-driven recommendations to improve the overall effectiveness of all aspects of teacher support in the MD Program.Responsibilities:Educator Development, Teacher Support, and Faculty Recognition (60%)
  • Identifies and onboards new pre-clerkship instructors and clinical preceptors.
  • Ensures MD Program teachers have faculty appointments (Clinical Academic Colleague or as appropriate).
  • Ensures teachers in the MD Program have access to appropriate faculty development to teach their respective sessions.
  • Maintain a database record of educator development activities that have been completed.
  • Build and maintain a process to ensure Resident as Teacher training is implemented and tracked.
  • Provide support to the Director, Teacher Support (Pre-Clerkship) and Director of Teacher Support (Clerkship).
  • Collaborate with the NAMP Teacher Support team (Teacher Support Lead and Administrator) to ensure teacher support meets the needs of faculty members across all sites of the MD Program.
  • Identify shared resources and coordinate efforts where appropriate with the NAMP Teacher Support team to provide equitable access to educator development
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Administrator to ensure faculty members are appropriately remunerated.
  • Ensure MD Program teachers are appropriately recognized for their teaching contributions.
  • Develop and implement a process to provide department chairs, divisional directors, and residency program directors with a summary of teaching activities for teachers in their areas each academic year.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Edmonton and Grande Prairie to ensure teacher support and recognition processes are implemented in both sites of the MD Program.
  • Build tools and processes for MD Program teacher communication in collaboration with the Directors of Teacher Support.
  • Design and maintain the MD Program's online faculty development modules.
  • Develop content for the MD Program's online faculty development modules in collaboration with content experts.
  • Maintain and reconcile the UME instructor list with the FARM database in collaboration with the Learning Sciences team and the Curriculum team.
  • Implements a process for onboarding and welcoming new instructors to the MD Program.
  • Ensures clinical teaching sites are identified and materials are provided to each site and preceptor recognizing their role in teaching medical students.
Evaluation (20%)
  • Provide evaluation support in collaboration with the Program Evaluation Unit, by planning and implementing evaluation projects that demonstrate the effectiveness of teacher support and faculty development initiatives.
  • Conduct literature reviews to ensure teacher support initiatives are established based on existing best practices.
  • Develop recommendations based on evaluation data to inform decisions related to program activities, teacher support, and educator development.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of processes related to quality improvement and evaluation to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Administrative Support (10%)
  • Organize meetings for the Directors of Teacher Support.
  • Plan and facilitate faculty development and teacher support events in collaboration with the Directors of Teacher Support.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure successful implementation of teacher support and faculty development activities and initiatives.
Qualifications:Required Education:
  • An undergraduate degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred
Required Experience:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of administrative experience, preferably in the post-secondary environment.
  • Knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in:
  • supporting teachers,
  • program delivery,
  • and/or teaching and learning.
