
Dietitian - Clinical Instructor

- Operate the clinical education and training program for dietetics students for an assigned area, in accordance with established policies and procedures and professional standards.
- Supervise and ensure dietetics students receive required supervision, training and orientation.
- Participate in student education and/or evaluations and provide clinical services to patients, as required.
- Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
- Registration with Restricted Activities A and C.
- Four (4) years' recent related health care experience including two years’ experience teaching students.
- One (1) year experience in a leadership/supervisory role and completion of a course on adult basic education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Eligible for clinical faculty appointment at the level of Clinical Instructor or higher at a recognized educational institution.
- Knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
- Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
- Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
- Knowledge of enteral nutrition.
- Broad knowledge of interprofessional team competencies, including knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
- Knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, students, clients and their families, and external agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate client/patient/group education classes.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to client/family priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.

- Demonstrated computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system as well as applicable word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
