- Ensure that support from First Nations is a key component of every planning project conducted on Crown land, and provide senior-level engagement and continuity across long-term initiatives.
- Secure entitlements and approvals of resort improvements through the Mountain Resorts Branch (MRB) of the British Columbia Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, BC Provincial Parks, Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), and other jurisdictions, including leading complex, multi-agency approval strategies.
- Serve as the senior liaison between regulatory agencies and the resort.
- Lead WB teams throughout the company's capital planning process, including shaping project scope, sequencing, and priorities in alignment with enterprise strategy.
- Coordinate resort improvements with 3rd party contractors and Vail Resorts construction project managers, providing oversight across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Work with the WB team and consultants to deliver project plans that meet the needs of the project and prepare internal and external teams for successful project implementation, ensuring consistency across the planning portfolio.
- Manage the budgets, schedules, and deliverables of consultants such as planners, architects, and engineers, with accountability for overall planning outcomes rather than individual project execution alone.
- Lead resort master plan amendments and approval processes in compliance with the Master Development Agreements between the province and the resort, including long-range master planning updates and scenario analysis.
- Ensure that MRB land tenures are secured in the Development Area for all new and existing resort infrastructure such as lifts and utilities, anticipating future development needs.
- Support WB's efforts in maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and working in sensitive habitats when planning and constructing resort improvements, providing strategic guidance on risk mitigation and regulatory alignment.
- Management of land encroachments on the Controlled Recreation Area (CRA), including senior-level coordination and resolution strategies.
- Provide graphic, written, and oral deliverables for capital projects including the preparation, layout and concept design for a variety of reports, plans, maps, and presentations, tailored to senior leadership, regulators, and enterprise stakeholders.
- Provide functional leadership and mentorship to planning resources and cross-functional partners involved in resort development projects.
- Act as an escalation point for complex planning, regulatory, or stakeholder issues impacting resort development.
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning or landscape architecture
- 7+ years relevant experience in planning, land use, or resort/infrastructure development
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities, and present information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all company departments, WB employees, and management at all levels in the organization, including executive leadership
- Ability to translate technical ideas and terminology into understandable terms to company leaders
- Ability and experience using Adobe and AutoCAD software
- Strong communication skills, including senior-level presentations and external engagement

- BC Driver's License
- Experience with design and construction of resort infrastructure
- 3+ years of ski area and/or resort planning experience
- Abilities to interface back and forth between AutoCAD and GIS platforms
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions at all elevations of the resort
- Intermediate skiing/riding abilities
- Ability/willingness to travel to meet other Planning and Projects team members
- On the ground project management skills
- Drone operation with a Transport Canada drone operator's license
