Full-time, part-time, and casual positions are available. Monitor alarms, CCTV, and access control systems, conduct patrols, handle crowd control, and respond to emergencies. Investigate incidents, improve security protocols, and ensure safety. We provide on-site training, a uniform and shoe allowance, extra hours, vacation time, and a comprehensive benefits package.   • Use cutting-edge technology to ensure the safety and security of the Museum's employees, visitors, and artifacts by monitoring and operating Alarms, CCTV, & Access Control systems.
  • Demonstrate expertise in control room duties and functions such as dispatching, access control systems, and CCTV, and utilize this knowledge to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Museum's security systems.
  • Quickly respond to alarms and investigate incidents to maintain the Museum's security integrity and prevent potential loss or damage.
  • Patrol the galleries and other areas of the Museum to maintain a visible security presence and prevent any security incidents from occurring.
  • Keep crowds under control during busy events and ensure the safety of visitors.
  • Conduct thorough parcel and package inspections to prevent prohibited or dangerous items from entering the Museum.
  • Conduct detailed investigations and report all findings and recommendations regarding incidents or accounts on ROM property, providing valuable insights to inform the Museum's security strategy and protocols.
  • Respond to all emergency and non-emergency calls professionally and efficiently, working closely with emergency services as necessary.
  • Take on other duties as assigned, contributing to a dynamic and diverse team prioritizing the safety and security of the Museum's employees, visitors, and assets.

  • Join the ROM Security team with a Law Enforcement/Police Foundations Diploma.
  • Bring at least one full (1) year of previous security experience or an acceptable equivalent in education and experience to the table.
  • Hold a valid Ontario Security Guards License in good standing, in accordance with PSIS Act at the time of application.
  • Be equipped with First aid and CPR Level "C" and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification at the time of application.
  • Possess valid Smart Serve certification at the time of hire to complement your experience.
  • Be adept with the knowledge and previous experience using CCTV/Fire Panel/Access Control Systems.
  • Be confident in your knowledge of emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Be able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Showcase your conflict resolution skills in a dynamic workplace.
  • Benefit from experience working in a hospitality setting (an asset).
  • Be physically fit, standing on your feet for an extended period.
  • Be equipped with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
  • Work with a high degree of honesty and integrity.
  • Know Microsoft Office and electronic mail.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of operational security procedures.
  • Wear Green Patch safety footwear at all times while on duty.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • START DATE: ASAP
  • EMPLOYEE GROUP: SEIU, Local 2
  • SALARY/HOURLY RATE: $21.68 - $25.52 per hour
  • SCHEDULE FULL-TIME: 40 hours per week
  • SCHEDULE PART-TIME: up to 20 hours per week
  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 60 days (full-time) 480 hours (part-time/casual)
