This role supports the delivery of high-quality, design-led landscape projects from early design through construction, while building strong technical and professional foundations through mentorship and hands-on experience.Working closely with landscape architects, technologists, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams, you will support the translation of design intent into clear, accurate, and buildable documentation while developing problem-solving skills across project delivery.Your Key ResponsibilitiesThis role is primarily office-based with opportunities for site and field exposure as experience growsSupport landscape architecture projects across multiple phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administrationAssist with the preparation of design development and construction drawings, details, and coordinated drawing sets under the guidance of senior team membersAssist in translating design concepts into technically sound, accurate, and buildable documentationSupport basic conceptual design tasks, such as preliminary layouts, material references, and planting plansCoordinate drawings with internal teams and external consultants, incorporating background information such as surveys and civil drawingsMaintain organized CAD files and project documentation in accordance with firm standards and best practicesParticipate in project meetings, assisting with agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up itemsSupport basic construction administration activities, including tracking shop drawings, RFIs, and changesApply municipal standards, regulatory requirements, and project guidelines to technical work with mentorship and directionFuture / Growth Responsibilities (As Opportunities Arise)While not required at this time, the successful candidate will be supported to grow into the following areas:Assist with presentation materials, design narratives, and basic technical reportsParticipate in site visits, field reviews, and inspections to verify existing conditions and observe construction progressSupport deficiency tracking, site review reports, record drawings, and project close-out documentationAssist with quantity take-offs and introductory cost estimating tasksSupport coordination with municipal authorities for submissions, reviews, and approvalsContribute to digital workflows, including 3D models, diagrams, renderings, and visualization toolsContribute ideas, ask questions, and learn from a collaborative team environment that values mentorship, curiosity, and professional developmentBuild confidence working in both office and field environmentsYour Capabilities & CredentialsTechnical & Software SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, with the ability to work within established CAD standardsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative SuiteFamiliarity with LandFX and Bluebeam considered an assetProfessional & Collaborative SkillsAbility to interpret design intent and support the development of clear, accurate drawingsStrong written, verbal, and graphic communication skillsAbility to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environmentOrganized, detail-oriented, and motivated to produce high-quality workStrong interest in learning through mentorship, project collaboration and developing technical skillsAssets for Future GrowthExperience with SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, BIM360, visualization, or digital collaboration toolsAbility to participate in office-based work and supervised on-site field activities, as requiredInterest in gaining hands-on experience through site visits and construction observationInterest in professional development and expanding technical knowledgeEligibility for membership with the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects (AALA)This role provides a foundation for progression into intermediate-level technologist responsibilities over timeEducation & ExperienceDiploma in Landscape Architectural Technology or a Diploma in a related design field, with equivalent practical experienceEntry-level position suitable for candidates with 1–2 years of related experience, including recent graduates with landscape focused education.Experience gained through co-op placements, internships, summer employment, or part-time roles is valuedPrevious exposure to landscape construction, site inspections, or field documentation is considered an asset but not requiredTypical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
