SEEKING BOARD MEMBER: President/Chair – THE URBAN ORCHESTRAThe Urban Orchestra is currently looking to fill the position of Chair on our Board of Directors. This person will lead us into a new era as we continue to provide intimate orchestral experiences while growing with our stable funding. We are seeking passionate applicants who believe in our mission to provide a classical music experience that is both accessible and intimate. The Chair will also act as our CEO. This is a volunteer position.ABOUT THE URBAN ORCHESTRAThe Urban Orchestra is a non-profit organization whose goal is to hold live orchestral music performances in non-traditional spaces, so that our audiences experience the power of an orchestra up close – the way orchestras were meant to be heard. Our repertoire contains traditional and contemporary classical music that is exciting, entertaining, and shows off the power of the orchestra. We select young, diverse, professional musicians from the GTA as our orchestra performers. We’re also a registered charity, which allows us to issue tax receipts to our supporters. We are in a stable, sustainable financial position to maintain a full season of two annual performances going forward. Board meetings are held roughly every three months, either in person or remotely.
