- Job Description
- Lead a project design team, including junior and intermediate staff.
- Design electrical substations for voltages ranging from 60 to 735 kV in a public utility environment, including the design of supports and foundations.
- Prepare project documentation such as reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design bases, and test plans in accordance with company standards.
- Lead and execute design work packages, including scope, duration, and effort estimations, while managing design tasks, including scope, schedule, and cost, for both existing and new facilities.
- Deliver signed/sealed engineering deliverables as the responsible professional, ensuring compliance with our practices.
- Provide technical support, construction assistance, and field reviews, as required.
- Develop design criteria, considering multidisciplinary team inputs.
- Lead the design, analysis, and detailing of structures, foundations, and hardware assemblies. Review manufacturer shop drawings.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff. Review designs prepared by others, ensuring compliance with established practices.
- Conduct independent studies and analyses, contribute to technical standard development, recommend safe designs, and provide coaching to enhance the future capabilities of CIMA+'s engineering team.
- Develop and implement procedures, methods, and controls for planning, scheduling, cost control, and technical compliance, ensuring a consistent and strong engineering standards process.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders, review project schedules, resources, and budgets, and control expenses to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Plan, organize, and lead complex engineering and geoscience activities, making critical technical decisions and formulating recommendations to ensure successful project execution and resource management.
- Profile
- University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience.
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.
- Proficiency in design and analysis software (e.g., Safi, VTS).
- Fluency in French (spoken and written).
