- Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision.
- One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Food Safe Certificate 1.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to supervise.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.

- Supervise staff by preparing schedules, coordinating work assignments, and evaluating performance.
- Visit patients/families during meal rounds to gather diet-related information, ensure food service quality, and chart intake.
- Conduct nutritional screenings for malnutrition risk and provide information to the Registered Dietitian.
- Review and process patient information using the nutrition computer system.
- Set up nourishments, mark menus, and manage the inventory of specialty formula.
- Conduct computerized nutritional analysis of menus, recipes, and food records.
- Maintain manuals, participate in Quality Assurance audits, and provide input on menu revisions.
