With a new Long-term Care Development and a New Patient Care Tower - the first healthcare Alliance project in Ontario - and many other strategic redevelopment priorities, NYG is transforming healthcare delivery for our patients, families and community.As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing these projects. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of healthcare infrastructure at one of Canada's leading hospitals.The Senior Project Manager provides oversight and project leadership over the capital project portfolio. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of passionate and collaborative professional, consultants, patients and other stakeholders to ensure projects are successfully delivered.The Senior Project Manager must possess a breadth and depth of understanding of the different project types and delivery models. Depending on the nature and stage of the project, additional specific skills or expertise may be required. They must be able to facilitate communication between multiple stakeholders efficiently and effectively. The Senior Project Manager coordinates team members including other project managers, stakeholders, internal and external consultants, contractors and vendors.This position supports the Hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.On a practical level, you will
Provide strategic project leadership and direct the work of project teams (hospital staff, consultants and contractors) through the project lifecycle in accordance with hospital requirements and applicable codes, standards, and legislation.
Ensure project deliverables and milestones are achieved, on-budget and on-time, and holding regular communications to review milestones, risks, progress and lessons learned.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders and maintain regular communication with steering committees and/or executive sponsors on deliverables, risks and issues.
Manage scope, budget and schedule, including financial reporting in collaboration with Finance.
Develop and manage the implementation of change management plans and other strategies that will support project success.
Review and assess project feasibility and provide recommendations on budget, scope and schedule.
Lead project close out and post-occupancy evaluation, including performance measures and lessons learned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, project management or construction management with equivalent combination of education and experience required
Master's degree or professional designation in a relevant field is preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is required (or working towards it).
Minimum 5 years of project management experience or combined functional/project management experience is required, with a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects, with multiple stakeholders and leading large multidisciplinary teams.
Minimum of 2 years' experience of project management must be in capital planning and redevelopment.
Experience in one or more of the following: healthcare planning and programming, healthcare architectural design, construction project delivery, regulatory approvals (e.g. Ministry of Health, Municipal Planning, building permits), furniture and equipment planning, or operational readiness and transition planning.
Strong understanding of applicable legislation, regulations and standards relevant to healthcare infrastructure.
Ability to apply project management processes, anticipate risks, problem solve and communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to senior management and stakeholders.
Ability to mentor and influence results through coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution.
Understand and communicate technical issues clearly, both verbally and through written communications.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and analyze risks and issues, explore alternatives, develop appropriate recommendations with project team.
Experience with hospitals, long-term care home, or large institutional buildings would be an asset.
Bilingualism in French/English considered an asset.
