Our client, A not-for-profit organization supporting low income families across Toronto is seeking a professional Controller to join the Accounting and Finance experience. This position is full-time and a hybrid position in Toronto, Ontario.Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, and ensure timely completion of audits and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Managed and oversaw the entire payroll and benefits and AP(mainly expense side) process including processing, reviewing, integrating, automating, etc.
- Support and work alongside the Senior Manager, Budgeting on program-specific annual budgets, including submission of timely financial reports to the CFO.
- Ensure compliance with tax filings, government remittances, and all other statutory obligations.
- Support the development and implementation of financial systems, procedures, and internal controls to support efficient and effective finance operations
- Provide financial and analytical support (including forecasting and expenditure tracking) to the Director of Finance & Operations and the Finance & Audit Committee.
- Support CFOin financial accountability, and reporting processes.
- Oversee financial management systems and platforms and ensure that technology-based solutions support transparency and operational efficiency.
- Provide guidance and training to department leaders to improve financial literacy.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and financial policies.
- Foster strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective communication and timely issue resolution.
- Evaluating financial reports submitted by grant recipients.
- Support the CFO with CRA audits.
- Accounting & Finance Degree or Diploma pursuing or CPA designated.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Accounting & Finance.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a controllership position.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, payroll systems; knowledge of best practices with cash management, planning, investment management and policy development.
- Superior communication skills.
