Your ContributionYour main responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and supervise geotechnical field inspections including drilling and test pit programs;
- Conduct foundation investigations and complete basic shallow and deep foundation design;
- Select material samples for geotechnical laboratory testing;
- Support the materials testing manager;
- Enter and report field testing results;
- Support experienced geotechnical engineering staff as required;
- Prepare borehole logs and write factual reports;
- Liaise with subcontractors, clients and project managers;
- Attend site and office meetings;
- Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety policies.
- University Degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering;
- All applicants are considered and all experience is considered; relevant experience in geotechnical/materials engineering capacity is preferred;
- Member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) or eligible to apply once sufficient experience is obtained;
- Solid experience with field/laboratory tests (consolidation, triaxial, permeability, etc.), and technical reports for geotechnical purposes;
- Drafting skills in AutoCAD or MicroStation would be considered an asset;
- Fluent in English;
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills;
- Motivated to provide excellent client service and enjoy working in a team environment;
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and able to complete work within established timeframes;
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel throughout Ontario on an as required basis;
- Demonstrated interest and sensitivity towards occupational health and safety.
