- The ability to think critically, comparing source material from the OEM, training managers and various SMEs.
- Strong knowledge, aptitude, and ability to use various documentation software, including but not limited to, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
- Passion for research and analysis of material to be used as groundwork for generating mid- and end-user publications
- The ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to communicate in clear and concise industry-standard language, both written and verbal.
- The ability to follow established technical specifications that adhere to the requirements for customer training that also fulfill the obligations to the OEM.
- A general working knowledge of various aviation standards, including ATA and S1000D, among others.
- Creating content for mid-users (instructors) and end users (customers).
- Developing descriptive and operational procedures to support pilot and maintenance training.
- Ensuring that content follows a logical progression of material depth at a level of concept, expression, and vocabulary appropriate for the target audience.
- Collaborating with members of the instructor group, media developers, instructional designers, and courseware developers.
- Producing required content within an acceptable timeframe.
- Revising existing materials to meet the requirements of the documentation type (instructor guides, customer publications, etc.).
- Adhering to and maintaining departmental standards and enforcing them across projects and formats.
- Reviewing, analyzing, and determining impact of customer feedback, using lessons-learned to determine appropriate actions to resolve comments.
- Reviewing and editing of content produced by other team members to ensure a consistent voice across all publications.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, communications, or English language, or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in Aviation/Aerospace domain. Publications experience preferred.
- Critical thinking ability to interpret engineering documents and illustrations and the ability to convey those materials in a concise and clear manner.
- Experience in publications software, including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Adobe Framemaker/InDesign. Ability to produce PDF output from those software applications.
- Attention to detail across multiple project and publications with varying communications styles and standards.
- The discipline for remote work under limited direction of a manager, project manager, project lead, team leader, or senior team member.
- Act as individual contributor or team member. May involve leadership functions on project-to-project basis.
