Job Description:A leading Toronto-based law firm is seeking a skilled and highly organized Legal Assistant to join its Construction Litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive legal professional to support complex construction litigation matters in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and legal support to lawyers in the Construction Litigation group, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading correspondence, pleadings, and court documents.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of legal documents with courts and tribunals within prescribed deadlines.
  • Maintain and organize client files, both electronic and hard copy, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to firm protocols.
  • Manage multiple calendars, schedule meetings, coordinate travel arrangements, and handle incoming/outgoing communications.
  • Track critical deadlines, limitation periods, and manage timelines for construction matters.
  • Conduct basic legal research and assist with document production, disclosure, and trial preparation.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, experts, court staff, and third parties as required.
  • Process time entries, expenses, and support billing activities as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a legal assistant, preferably in construction litigation.
  • Proficiency in case management software and tools such as Aderant and CompuLaw.
  • Strong knowledge of legal documentation processes and terminology.
  • Familiarity with construction law and litigation practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and ACRIS.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
