Soil Scientist/Agrologist

- Capable of leading field surveys and environmental monitoring throughout western and northern Canada to collect data including but not limited to baseline soil and terrain characterization, classification and mapping, Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments, Pre-disturbance Site Assessments, and Detailed Site Assessments
- Prepare technical reports and memos related to Environmental Impact Assessments on various sites, as required
- Contribute to environmental investigations, research, field work, and report writing
- Collaborate with and assist project managers and team members including biologists, engineers, planners, and environmental scientists
- Ability to work weekends
- Ability to travel overnight, for long periods of time

- An undergraduate degree in surficial geology, soil sciences, agrology, ecology or a related environmental sciences field
- 3-5 years of professional work experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience
- Registered as a Professional Agrologist (BC, AB or SK), or able to obtain registration within 1 year of hire
- Registration as a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control will be considered an asset
- Ability to obtain Reliability security status (e.g., five year address history, criminal record check) for federal government contracts
- Valid Drivers’ License
- Demonstrated experience and skill with field testing methods and ability to characterize and classify soils (CSSC, 3rd Edition) of the Grassland, Parkland, Rocky Mountain and Boreal Forest Natural Regions (or equivalent) of British Columbia, Alberta, and/or Saskatchewan
- Familiarity with standard industry practices in soil conservation, handling and reclamation measures
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and keen attention to detail
- Aptitude to learn
- Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements will be considered an asset
