
Intermediate Specialist, Enterprise Platform - Operations

- Product Expertise
- System Management: Oversee the configuration, customization, and maintenance of key airline operations systems, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with business and operational requirements.
- Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and related changes, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to acquire deep knowledge of each platform’s capabilities and performance expectations.
- Liaison with Business, IT, and Other Stakeholders
- Primary Liaison: Serve as the key interface between IT and business units such as Flight Operations, Safety, and Crew Management, helping to define, document, and prioritize system requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams across departments—including Operations, Finance, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity—to ensure alignment and successful delivery of technology-enabled solutions.
- Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear and timely communication with internal stakeholders and external partners throughout project lifecycles.
- Operational Improvements and Stability
- Process Analysis and Improvement: Use system logs and other monitoring tools to proactively identify and address issues or inefficiencies.
- Integration Enhancement: Support and lead integration efforts across operational systems to drive process automation and improve continuity.
- System Monitoring: Implement and maintain monitoring protocols to ensure platform stability and resilience.
- Delivering New Capability
- System Deployment Participation: Participate in all phases of operational system deployments, including requirements gathering, configuration, documentation, testing, and user training.
- Project Management: Collaborate with project managers and IT leads to ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
- Business Needs Translation: Translate operational and business requirements into technical specifications, collaborating with IT partners to implement scalable solutions.
- External Trends Monitoring
- Competitive Analysis: Continuously monitor industry trends and competitor practices to identify opportunities for Porter and its systems.
- Innovation and Evolution: Contribute to the advancement of IT platform capabilities by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending innovations that drive efficiency and competitive advantage.
- Safety and Compliance
- Safety Management Participation: Actively engage in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply with, and promote the Company Safety Policy.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all systems and processes adhere to industry regulations and standards, implementing necessary measures to maintain compliance.
- Additional Duties
- Other Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Managing Director, IT Systems and Delivery, adapting to evolving business needs and priorities.
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience using, supporting, or implementing operations systems within an airline or similar complex environment
- Hands-on experience with operational platforms such as crew management, flight ops/tracking, safety systems, passenger disruption tools, or other airline enterprise systems
- Demonstrated understanding of integration points between operational platforms and enterprise systems such as scheduling, crew management, revenue, and finance
- Technically proficient, with experience in system configuration, design, or development of airline operations platforms—experience in aviation or similar industries is considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years of experience implementing, supporting, or enhancing operations software suites within an airline or comparable operational environment
- Hands-on experience with airline enterprise systems such as the Proverne suite, SwissAS tools (e.g., AMOS, Flydocs), and NavBlue platforms (e.g., N-OC, N-FP), including knowledge of their integration across key business functions, is considered an asset
- Airline or Aviation experience is considered an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in business, science or related field
- Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly with business users, flight and airport operations staff, and project management
- Ability to innovate and provide functional applications with intuitive interfaces
- Ability to construct user guides and documentation
- Ability to partner to deliver complex technology projects, specifically with integrations, complex architecture, and data changes
- Proven interest and comfort working on technology initiatives
- Listens to others and is open to input from team members
- Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally
- Accurately prepares well written business correspondence that is effective and professional
- Proposes solutions to problems and considers timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing client needs
- Experience with office productivity tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and accept direction
