- Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Project Specific HS Execution Plan with the assistance of the Project Management Team and the Senior Builders / Construction team.
- Collaborate with the Senior Builder, Construction team and trade contractors to ensure their duties are performed in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations, Mattamy Safety Policies and Project Specific HSE Execution Plan.
- Monitor project site conditions and behaviours to identify risks and provide project leaders with input and recommendations to enhance safety performance.
- Ensure that Mattamy and trade contractors are conducting regular effective inspections of their work areas.
- Manage HS related documentation as required by local legislation and/or Mattamy safety policies.
- Coordinate the facilitation of new worker and trade partner site specific HSE orientation in conjunction with the Senior Builder.
- Participate in Mattamy's Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) as a management representative.
- Manage modified work programs within the requirements of the policy and local regulations.
- Ongoing liaison with WSIB/WCB, Area/Corporate HS Team, and HR BP's regarding rehabilitation or return to work plans.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and incident investigations as directed by the Health & Safety Manager.
- At least 2-3 years' experience coordinating and managing health and safety in construction and residential real estate.
- University degree or college diploma, specializing in occupational health & safety discipline, with optional training in technical applications, trades or construction techniques or comparable work experience.
- OHS Provincial Certification.
- Have a valid First Aid/CPR certificate
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills with accuracy in details.
- Possess organizational skills and flexibility to plan, initiate, organize, and prioritize own work.
- A team player, who values communication and can operate effectively with peers.
- Proactive and resourceful, with a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
- Possess strong existing computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Proficiency in using digital H&S Tracking tools.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job site.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and/or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is considered an asset
- Previous experience with investigating, interviewing, documenting, and reporting incidents and accidents in a health & safety context is considered an asset.
- Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups preferred.
