
Senior Electrical Engineer - Substations

- Job Description
- Act as the main technical lead and client-facing representative, quarterbacking project delivery and facilitating key internal and external stakeholder discussions.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams for full substation project delivery, including civil, structural, protection & control, SCADA, and telecommunications.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
- Design electrical systems and create technical specifications for substation and balance of plant equipment
- Prepare detailed plans and specifications for HV/MV substation projects
- Provide engineering expertise for electrical installations in Utility substations, as well as wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects.
- Write and review technical reports, engineering assessments, and design documentation.
- Ensure design compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver optimized and high-quality engineering solutions.
- Occasionally travel to project sites for inspections, assessments, and client interactions.
- Profile
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on substation and renewable energy systems.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). United States Professional Engineering designation would be considered an asset.
- Proven experience in collector network and substation design.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to write well-structured, clear, and concise technical reports.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement, and client satisfaction.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
