Job Description:Our client a high net worth Family Office has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant to join their Accounting Department.. This role offers a hybrid work model, . You will play a critical role in managing full-cycle accounting for a diverse portfolio of family-owned businesses, with opportunities to grow and take on increasingly complex responsibilities over time. This position requires a blend of bookkeeping, administrative tasks, and sophisticated accounting duties, including year-end processes and tax preparation.Responsibilities:
  • Handle full-cycle bookkeeping for corporations, trusts, and guardianships using various accounting software.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage multi-currency investment transactions, including foreign exchange bookings for US-based transactions.
  • Prepare payable invoices, organize backups for invoices and cheques, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Assist with year-end processes by preparing working paper files in CaseWare or Excel and drafting corporate and trust tax returns using Taxprep.
  • Compile documentation for personal tax returns and support specialized trust reporting using dedicated software.
  • Provide administrative support, including audit documentation preparation for a small charity and other ad hoc tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including family office partners, to maintain strong relationships built on attention to detail.
  • Contribute to ongoing system improvements and accounting processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Book year-end entries and assist with complex investment transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records to support financial audits and compliance requirements.
Requirements:
  • CPA designation
  • Prior work experience in a Family Office or Public Accounting is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in full-cycle accounting, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, and year-end processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, 365 Dynamics Business Central, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with tax preparation tools like Taxprep and CaseWare.
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records and backups for financial documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build collegial relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
