We are looking to hire a Scheduling and Planning Manager with strong leadership qualities for a custom manufacturing client located in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.As the Scheduling and Planning Manager you'll be hands-on in managing the production planning process and master schedule to determine current and future production needs, and ensuring forecast requirements are met while balancing manufacturing and material requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive leadership style and a commitment to continuous improvement, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.Responsibilities include:- Investigate, collaborate, prioritize and implement projects about enhanced capacity and resource utilization
- Create and analyze a periodic master schedule utilizing sales forecast, facility production capacity, and production cycle constraints
- Communicate daily with the Supply Chain, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, and Customer Service teams to manage and coordinate effective production planning and scheduling
- Monitor and maintain the collection of forecasting information and facilitate the analysis of demand anomalies and capacity constraints
- Analyze stocking levels and sales forecasts to ensure adequate inventory/reorder points to meet production needs and capacity constraints
- Schedule and monitor input and output using the Master Production Schedule (MPS), Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), and priority planning reports for a major account, product code, or a group of customers
- Examine the status of each order by reviewing the work-in-progress, open orders, material status, over dues, etc. and by checking with schedulers and expediters
- Assist in the development or improvement of manufacturing and production control systems
- Utilize tools learned through Lean Six Sigma training to drive continuous improvement of the master planning and scheduling process as well as the setup of all operations metrics
- Assist in the resolution of the MRP and planning discrepancies and recommend tool improvement and new tool implementation
- Perform other related tasksQualifications:- Postsecondary education (preferred) or equivalent work experience and 5 to 7 years of experience in a manufacturing planning and scheduling environment
- Exposure to both manual and automated processes - preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of scheduling systems, inventory management, and capacity planning practices in a manufacturing environment
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency with planning systems and solid understanding of how planning parameters impact system recommendations
- High level of accountability, proactivity, forward-thinking mindset and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience implementing systems
- Ability to provide extended flexible work hours, as workload and projects require
- Ability to use MS Office (Word and Excel), email and other Windows-based applications
- Additional experience with JDE ERP systems - highly desirable
- Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen Facilitator and Lean Leader certification or ability to become certified within a year - an asset
