Salary: $70,000–$80,000Our client is a well-established law firm with a strong litigation and dispute resolution practice. They are currently seeking an experienced Intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to support a busy group of lawyers in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned legal assistant who enjoys litigation work and takes pride in delivering high-quality administrative support.About the RoleThe successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to four lawyers, assisting with all aspects of civil litigation matters. The role is hybrid, with one work-from-home day per week (currently Mondays).Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and compile legal documents from written and oral instructions and precedents, including pleadings, motion records, briefs, and correspondence
- Coordinate with process servers and manage court filings across various levels of court
- Enter dockets and expenses; prepare trust receipts and third-party invoices
- Proofread and edit legal documents and correspondence with a high level of accuracy
- Liaise with lawyers and colleagues to obtain instructions and information
- Assist with file management, including opening and closing files, filing, and maintaining organized records
- Schedule examinations for discovery, applications, hearings, and trials
- Create and maintain a bring-forward (BF) system and manage lawyers’ calendars
- Keep lawyers apprised of deadlines, ongoing matters, and outstanding tasks
- Draft routine correspondence on behalf of lawyers
- Arrange meetings, travel, and accommodations as required
- Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant, with a strong focus on civil litigation
- Solid understanding of BC civil litigation practices, procedures, and deadlines
- Strong familiarity with BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and BC Small Claims Court Rules
- Working knowledge of Court of Appeal Rules, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and Federal Court Rules is an asset
- Experience with ACL, CanLII, Westlaw, and online court filing portals
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Chrome River, iManage, FileTrail, and Iron Mountain is an asset
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently while contributing to a collegial team
- Interest in learning new systems and contributing to process improvement and innovation
