Closing Date: September 12, 2025Position SummaryAs a key member of the ETMS team, the Specialist, Audio-Visual & Technology Services supports the delivery of health care to health professionals via video conferencing and other innovative technologies. the primary responsibilities of this job include: leading the specialized technical operations of the ETMS department in the area of expanded services such as special installation projects, service desk operations, educational video conferencing, computer software/hardware application support; ensuring equipment and staffing meet the needs of the client within UHN as well as outside health and other organizations; assisting with procurement of specialized equipment and technologies; performing maintenance and administration of various phases of the operational projects; managing the day-to-day technology needs of the users at UHN. The responsibilities of this role also include providing technical support for Tele-education events across all University Health Network sites; delivering, setting up, moving, dismantling and storing ETMS equipment and other peripheral devices within the UHN sites; troubleshooting and problem-solving videoconferencing equipment; assisting in the expansion of the ETMS program; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or as requested.Duties
- Audiovisual Technical Responsibilities and Event Administration
- Coordinates specialized technical services for UHN which is a major portion of the job involving: Coordinating Educational Technology Activities/Events (e.g., Broadcasting, video casting, bridging with various networks);
- Provides Technical Specialist Expertise
- Contributes technical expertise to develop innovative technical solutions and applications across multiple UHN sites within the program budget and under minimal guidance
- Provides education and support for the utilization of audio visual technology tools and devices for various initiatives to the inter-professional teams across UHN sites
- Troubleshoots hardware and software (pre-setting, testing etc.);
- Trains staff and volunteers on education technology
- Conducts event administration
- Intakes requests and Schedules Education, Administration, Conferencing events in various databases and scheduling systems (Microsoft 365)
- Books rooms and equipment accordingly
- Coordinates end-user requirements for education, administration, conferencing events including liaises with internal and external clients to determine needs and pricing.
- Manages invoices, payment and account activity.
- Maintains audiovisual equipment and software
- Coordinates hardware maintenance, audit, servicing and replacement schedules;
- Performs software and peripheral device inventory purchasing and licensing;
- Provides audio visual installation support
- Safely install AV components and hardware (DSP, video matrix and switchers, microphones, speakers, projection systems, displays, etc.)
- Configuration of audio visual control systems and network enabled equipment
- Basic networking skills and knowledge of network hardware (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, etc.)
- Procures, delivers, sets ups, moves, dismantles and stores ETMS equipment and other peripheral devices within the UHN sites.
- Receives, documents and processes requisitions/work orders.
- Sets-up audiovisual equipment; tests equipment to ensure it is operational.
- Troubleshoots and problem-solves audio visual equipment in real-time.
- Multi-tasks troubleshooting numerous technical issues with clinicians across UHN sites at any given moment via tech line, in person or over email.
- Liaises with hospital IT department in activating and reactivating jacks and updating software
- Assists in the expansion of the ETMS program and the use of audiovisual technology across UHN.
- Completion of a 3-year community college program in multimedia, or audio and video recording or recognized equivalent required.
- 3-4 years practical and related experience and/or 2 years on-the-job training required.
- Strong AV background and skills required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines required.
- Experience working in a hospital environment preferred.
