Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Position Summary:Research Assistant for “Hymns of the Kaula Lineage: Critical Editions, Translations, and Studies from Early Modern Kashmir.” This Research Assistant will work with Prof. Stainton on a research and publication project focused on previously unedited and unpublished manuscripts from 17th- and 18th-century Kashmir.Tasks will include transcription and collation of manuscripts, navigation of archival systems, summarizing Sanskrit content, reviewing translations, proofreading critical editions, and conducting background research.Qualifications: The preferred candidate must be proficient in Sanskrit as well as have facility with the Sharada and Devanagari scripts.M.A. in a related field, some years on the Ph.D. level required.Before applying, please note that to work at McGill University, you must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.Hourly Salary: $31.44Hours per Week: 3 (Part time)Location: Birks BuildingSupervisor: Associate ProfessorPosition Start Date: 2025-09-15Position End Date: 2026-05-01Deadline to Apply: 2025-09-09This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.McGill University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community.
