- Engage and support staff in developing action plans to enhance communication, solve problems creatively, promote integration and support excellence
- Ensure staff are empowered, have the competencies, and are well equipped to perform their roles
- Strategically identify and allocate necessary resources, including staffing and budget, for the successful execution of projects and programs
- Ensure the prudent and effective use of financial and human resources, determine and review annual budget requirements, and proactively monitor performance and financial reporting
- Support Program Managers in meeting Service Level Agreement targets
- Ensure strict adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), ENVISO environmental management system, procurement guidelines, project, program management methodologies, and all other relevant City policies and procedures throughout the area
- Apply the GBA+ process to the development and review of policies, practices and frameworks
- Knowledge or training and/or education in Management, Environmental Science, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Engineering, or other related disciplines
- Experience in a leadership role within a large, complex unionized organization
- Demonstrated knowledge in landscape operations management with experience overseeing service delivery
- Combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Experience working with large seasonal operations and staff change over
- Additional certification or coursework/training in financial management, public works administration, change management, or other leadership training
- Ability to lead and motivate teams while building a healthy, respectful and inclusive workplace environment that enable staff to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacity
- Strategically agile leader able to anticipate business opportunities and influence enterprise-wide policy planning and initiatives
- Able to build new and foster existing partnerships with community organizations, business partners, external agencies, orders of government, and internal branches
- Foster an environment that results in an efficient, effective, and innovative delivery of service
- Influence initiatives without positional authority
- Understand complex municipal subject matter and build influential relationships with external agencies and orders of government and successfully bring together partners for operational efforts and to achieve common goals

- 1 temporary, full-time position up to 12 months in duration
- Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position ​may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement ​with ​the flexibility to work from both home and a parks operational yard
- Salary: (Annually) $123,938.39 - $154,920.88
- Hire is dependent on Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
