The Simulation Centre includes twelve learning spaces including a lecture theatre, surgical cadaver and animal wet lab, clinical skills lab, high-fidelity simulation room, and multiple simulation and breakout rooms. The wet lab supports procedural and surgical education, anatomy teaching, interdisciplinary team training, and external education programs.As a VGH SIM and Wetlab Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Lead the operational coordination of simulation and wet lab activities. The role integrates program coordination with analysis of service utilization, operational workflows, safety practices, and resource requirements to support the effective delivery of simulation services.
- Analyze operational data and utilization trends and provides insights and recommendations to leadership to inform operational planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement of simulation services.
- Provide operational oversight of simulation centre workflows, resource utilization, and safety practices to ensure activities operate efficiently and in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Independently manage multiple concurrent programs, assesses operational requirements, identifies workflow improvements, and implements solutions to address operational challenges and maintain service continuity.
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Business Administration, Education, supplemented with a minimum of three (3) years’ recent, related experience in healthcare education, simulation services, surgical services, or operational coordination within a regulated environment, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Role requires moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting up to 70 lbs., long periods of standing and walking, and exposure to cadaveric material, animal tissue, biological fluids, and surgical instruments in accordance with safety protocols.
- Strong organizational and operational planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze operational requirements, identify workflow improvements, and support service planning.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting operational or program data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and database tracking systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic audiovisual and computer system connections including HDMI, USB-C, and multi-display configurations.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
- Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting equipment and working in simulation and laboratory environments.
