- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners and stay on top of all opportunities that may be available.Maintain an ongoing understanding of operations’ ability to take on new work and their timelines to respond, so that we are able to meet all commitments.
- Ensure we have an accurate measure of capacity in all storage facilities, and provide oversight and execution of all contracts.
- Stay informed of industry opportunities by participating in forums and receiving notifications to gather tenders. Review and collectively decide, in consultation with the team, on bid submissions.
- Contact existing customers to obtain additional loads and optimize utilization of resources.
- Cold-call new customers to gain additional business. Cold calling may include in-person visits.
- Contact customers and other carriers daily to maximize fleet utilization, fill empty lanes, and ensure service expectations are met.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity within our CRM software (Salesforce).
- Work with the sales team to secure the best possible rates per mile and with Terminal Managers to identify opportunities to fill traffic lanes.
- Control distribution of loads by determining the number of orders that can be filled for a particular time period, and communicate commitments to the Logistics Teams.
- Visit new pickup and delivery sites; ensure all information is gathered and communicated back to the team to set up in the system.
- Prepare documents for seamless onboarding of new customers, including product loading and delivery instructions.
- Work closely with the sales and quotation teams to develop a rate database for these business areas.
- Invest time through ongoing reading, research, and relationship-building to understand the full cycle of these markets.
- Understand trends, assess resource and people needs, and anticipate change.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, or forums to increase presence and build rapport.
- Considerable experience in transportation, with the ability to quickly learn our capacity, identify and pursue growth opportunities for KAG Canada.
- Outstanding internal and external customer service skills.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
