The opportunityThis 12-month contract position provides support to Public Securities Operations units including, but not limited to Investment Operations, Performance & Risk Analytics, and Compliance.The successful candidate requires an in-depth background in Investment Operations processes and a high level of knowledge of the specific unit assigned.The Associate has key responsibilities for the training and co-ordination of work on the team. This role provides direct assistance to the Manager in the operation of the unit, including troubleshooting, ad hoc projects and completion and review of the work of the team. From time to time this role could assume temporary responsibility for the operation of the unit during Management’s absence.Who you'll work withThis role reports to the Manager, Collateral & Liquidity OperationsWhat you'll do1. Co-ordinates, troubleshoots and reviews work of the team.Reviews daily work and sets work priorities.Co-ordinates work of the team as required to meet deadlines.Provides guidance and reviews the team’s work to ensure accuracy and control standards are being metResponds to and resolve problems and provide recommendations as to future procedural changes.Provides assistance to the team on complex issues.2. Carries out daily work within the Investment Finance “units”:Determines critical priorities for the dayCompletes critical priorities for the dayIdentifies and analyses issues and problemsDetermines and carries out appropriate solutions for issues and problemsAct as first point of escalation to manage issuesWorks with team members to ensure all critical priorities for the team are completed in the day3. Verifies information and upholds controlsChecks and reconciles information to ensure accuracyApplies controls, checks and balancesFollows up on discrepancies and resolves discrepanciesReviews files and information prepared by others4. Produces reportsGenerates standard reportsAnalyses requests for non-standard reports and designs/delivers reports5. Acts as lead on projects for the department under the guidance of the Financial AnalystPlans project and identifies needs.Carries out project tasks and/or co-ordinates the project work of team membersLiaises with IT Investments as needed on systems related projectsDocuments processes.6. Identifies and carries out improvements for the unitActively identifies efficiency improvementsInvestigates and implements improvements7. Assists the Financial Analyst in researching, identifying and documenting the characteristics and attributes of new products, programs or processes.Identifies procedural/process changes and requirementsProvides recommendations for procedures and processesDevelops and implements tests plansDocuments processes8. Services internal clientsBuild relationships with internal stakeholdersProvides information and services to internal clientsResponds to inquiries and requests from internal clientsDeals with internal clients in a professional and timely manner9. Deals with internal and external suppliersManages the relationship to ensure a high quality of service is delivered by suppliers.Provides information and requests information as needed to established suppliers (eg. Custodian, Counter-parties, Systems providers, etc.)Represents OTPP in a professional manner10.
