Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Under the supervision of the Client Services Manager, the AskMcGill Service Program Assistant plays a key role in enhancing the student experience by improving access to information and services at McGill. This role supports the AskMcGill Service through the coordination of student Navigators, refinement of service content, prepare materials to be disseminated and promotion of key resources to students.Working in collaboration with various Student Services units, the Program Assistant helps ensure accurate, timely, and student-friendly communication through platforms such as the AskMcGill dashboard, resource accounts, phone lines, and in-person engagement booths. The position also helps with scheduling, coverage, customer service coverage, statistics tracking, set up of events as needed, and takes the role of student navigator team lead at events.Hiring Unit:
Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E) supports all McGill students by connecting them to resources and creating meaningful opportunities for involvement. They guide students in navigating the McGill student experience through orientation and transition programming and by providing student life opportunities across campus for students to develop their interests and skills.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDuties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for recruitment, training, and scheduling of AskMcGill Navigators.
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring new Navigators to ensure consistent and high-quality peer service delivery.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts such as info booths, class visits, and services fairs to support students and promote the AskMcGill services.
  • Prepare cheat sheets to be handed over to the student Navigators at the start of their shift aiming to promote services and activities happening on campus.
  • Contribute to communication efforts through newsletters, social media, and website updates related to AskMcGill and student services.
  • Assist with data collection, feedback tracking, and reporting to evaluate program impact.
  • Maintain and improve AskMcGill content by collaborating with stakeholders and reviewing usage data to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Participate in CL&E campaigns such as Orientation, Get Involved, and Community Engagement Day as needed.
  • Identify on-campus events and opportunities where the AskMcGill could attend to promote Student Services, platforms (e.g. Mentorship Network, myfuture, etc.) and events. Ensure that promotional materials is timely prepared and available (with the help of the Communication Assistant)
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required.
  • Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 spoken (fluent) and at a level 4 written (fluent) on a scale of 0-4.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Currently registered as a full-time student in any degree program at McGill University.
  • Work Study eligibility, an asset.
  • Spoken and written French, an asset.
  • Experience in student leadership, peer advising, customer service, or campus life initiatives, an asset.
OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to be focused and flexible, and work in a busy environment
  • Excellent knowledge of McGill campus services, resources, and programs.
  • Punctual, organized and professional.
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, and reliable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with the ability to leverage these tools for data tracking and reporting.

Hours:
  • Now hiring for Summer 2026; must be available for in person work on downtown campus part time May and June, then
  • 28 hours per week July - September 2026.
  • Approx. 10 hours per week during Fall/Winter terms
