As our Controller, you will serve as the backbone of a fast-moving, acquisition-driven finance organisation. You will lead complex accounting areas including intercompany structures, revenue workflows, multi-entity consolidations, and close management across the platform.This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, structured execution under ambiguity, and the ability to design scalable processes within a private equity-backed environment. You will partner closely with Group Finance and operating companies to ensure accuracy, transparency, and operational excellence across the portfolio.The successful candidate will work from our Toronto office in a hybrid capacity.What You Will DoFirm Leadership
  • Contribute to Solen's long-term financial infrastructure strategy through disciplined, data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with the Group Head of Finance to strengthen reporting standards, integration processes, and financial controls.
  • Uphold high accounting standards while enabling agility in a dynamic PE-backed platform.
Core Responsibilities
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Lead multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of the general ledger, balance sheet, and income statement.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and key accounting judgements.
  • Enforce close calendars, cut-offs, and review standards.
  • Design and maintain scalable accounting structures as new entities are acquired.
  • Own chart of accounts design, dimensional structures, and reporting mappings, including integration to Power BI.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, settlements, and eliminations.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for management and stakeholders.
  • Support private equity reporting requirements, including roll-up visibility and comparability.
  • Partner with Group Finance on post-acquisition integration.
  • Design and maintain internal controls appropriate for a growing PE-backed platform.
  • Serve as primary owner for audit, tax, and regulatory coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and or IFRS, and firm-wide policies.
  • Proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and mentor OpCo accounting team members.
  • Support Board presentation materials, bank reporting, and external financial reporting.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Active CPA licence.
  • 3–5+ years of Senior Accountant, Controller, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and or IFRS.
  • Experience in private equity roll-ups, fund accounting, or high-growth environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Sage Intacct, including multi-entity and multi-currency consolidations.
  • Advanced Excel modelling capability.
  • Ability to operate effectively under ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally authorised to work in Canada.
Nice to Have
  • Working knowledge of Power BI.
  • Prior people management experience.
  • Exposure to post-acquisition integration and scaling finance teams.
