Our client, a well-established organization in the Grimsby, Ontario region, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Materials & Purchasing Coordinator to support their operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring the timely procurement of materials, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and supporting efficient production and service delivery. Responsibilities:
  • Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers; negotiate pricing and terms; issue and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Monitor inventory levels, support material planning activities, and identify risks related to shortages, delays, or overstock
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Sales/Customer Service, and Finance to align material supply with production and customer needs
  • Expedite critical materials to prevent downtime and support new product launches by sourcing required components
  • Communicate supply issues, delays, substitutions, or risks proactively to internal teams
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier records within ERP/MRP systems
  • Generate reports on purchasing activity, inventory levels, and supplier performance; analyze data to identify cost-saving or process improvement opportunities
  • Track product returns, warranty claims, RMAs, and supplier credits; support Finance with required documentation
  • Assist in maintaining clear purchasing procedures and support continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain processes
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, materials coordination, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and comfort managing data within digital platforms
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Strong negotiation abilities and confidence managing supplier relationships
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management tools
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, JIT practices, or ISO/quality systems is an asset
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) considered an advantage
