
Project Controls Specialist

- Ensure Project costs are appropriately tracked within SAP, making revisions as required
- Interface with Cost Control functions of EPCM to ensure accurate and timely cost control, including the integration of data from the vendor’s software into SAP
- Audit monthly progress claims and cost reports to ensure accuracy and reasonableness
- Maintain budget tracking documents; monitor budgets and timing of cash flows
- Ensure monthly data for Owner’s Costs is communicated to EPCM Project Controls to ensure accurate cost reporting
- Maintain the owner’s schedule, ensuring milestones are reached on time and corrective measures are taken when necessary
- Lead the authoring of monthly reports
- Provide inputs to the Project Monthly Report, Cost tracking of planned versus actual, Cost forecasting, Fuel Usage, Workforce
- Assess reasonableness of proposed contract variations, work with EPCM to ensure database of variations is accurate and well maintained
- Assist in the timely coordination, collection, compiling and proofing of reporting information, including: cost reports, cash flow targets and forecasts, variance explanations.
- Assist in aspects of project and workface planning
- Ensure Baffinland HSEC standards are incorporated in all work undertaken
- Ensure all work undertaken is consistent with Baffinland’s Charter values and Code of Business Conduct
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business
- Master’s Degree MBA Preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in Cost controls, scheduling, Project Management
- Project Management Professional Designation Preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office functions, particularly Excel
- SAP Experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize several ongoing responsibilities
- Organizational skills & attention to detail.
- Proven budgetary skills, cost control, and effective reporting skills.
- Arctic experience would be beneficial.
- Experience working with aboriginal people and communities would be an asset.
