New Employees will require clearance from Employee Health, Safety and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within WRHN.Position Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PCNP) with specialized experience in obstetric care to join our interdisciplinary team. The PCNP – Obstetrics will play a vital role in managing comprehensive care for patients throughout the prenatal period, focusing on both maternal and fetal well-being.This role involves collaborative practice with obstetricians, midwives, family physicians, and nursing staff in clinic setting. You will be working with patients to provide care during first and second trimesters of pregnancy at which point care will transfer to one of the obstetricians at WRHN@Midtown. Patients may include families without primary care, new to Canada, part of refugee or other equity-deserving populations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide prenatal assessments, including health screenings, fetal monitoring, and counseling
  • Educate patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care
  • Diagnose and treat common obstetric-related conditions
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and ultrasounds
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with scope of practice and local regulations
  • Document care accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Refer to specialists or community services when appropriate
  • Promote wellness, preventative care, and chronic disease management in reproductive-age women
Position Requirements:
  • Current Registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an EC RN or NP.
  • MScN
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) – Required
  • 3-5 years current experience in Perinatal Nursing
  • FHS (Fetal Health Surveillance)
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and well organized
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal/written skills including telephone counseling skills
  • Skill in motivating others to understand new approaches in the delivery of health care services
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and teams
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent performance
