- Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class (EC). Consideration may be given to candidates who are eligible to write Extended Class exam with the understanding standing they must be registered in the Extended Class prior to commencing employment in this position.
- Completion of an accredited controlled substance course according to College of Nurses of Ontario standard
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a health care setting with a broad knowledge base in health systems navigation
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Assistance in Dying in Canada and Ontario
- Completion of (or be willing to complete during orientation) the Canadian MAID Curriculum through CAMAP
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and assertively within an inter professional health care team and with community partners
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills as well as negotiation, consultation and client advocacy skills that keep the patient at the centre of the work
- Demonstrated ability to support patients, families and staff through crisis situations
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and teams
- Ability to be self-directed and work autonomously
- Ability to function within a collaborative practice model
- Ability to promote professional education and advances knowledge through research and scholarly activities
- Basic Cardiac Life Support required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support an asset
- Training and experience in project management
- Crucial Conversations or equivalent
- Understanding of communication styles and navigating difficult communication
- Canadian Nursing Association Certification in Hospice Palliative Care or relevant specialty certification preferred
- Post-graduate certificate and experience in palliative care
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in working with MAID, hospice, oncology or palliative care
