Job Description We are seeking a Senior Accountant on behalf of our client in St. John's, Newfoundland. The ideal candidate is an engaged and motivated designated CPA, excited to advance their career in a dynamic and versatile environment.Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Conduct variance analysis and report on financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Collaborate with auditors during financial audits
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems
Skills & Attributes for Success:
  • Completed CPA designation
  • 1 - 3 years' of accounting experience, preferably in a firm setting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
