- Performance range: $108,088 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
The Teacher Education Renewal and West Shore Campus Development is responsible for and works cooperatively and collaboratively with the Dean, Department Chair, Administrative Officer, Program Coordinators, and Education Advising to effectively lead, implement, and monitor the Teacher Education program renewal process.The Director, Teacher Education, Innovation and Partnerships oversees the strategic development and management of the Faculty of Education's presence and activities at the John Horgan West Shore Campus and leads the establishment of the John Horgan Campus Innovation Hub.This position works directly with campus interest holders, community partners, and internal Faculty leadership to ensure successful implementation and integration of West Shore initiatives with the faculty's strategic objectives.Objectives:
- Oversee the Teacher Education program renewal process, ensuring timely coordination with consultants and internal stakeholders to finalize documentation and secure program approval by the Dean and relevant governance bodies.
- Establish and grow Faculty of Education presence at John Horgan Campus; Coordinate activities and partnerships with local school districts and community partners; Develop and model innovative pedagogies for 2027 Teacher Education Program, and the English and French Elementary PDP Programs).
- Collaboratively co-lead the design and implementation of the John Horgan Campus Innovation Hub (iHUB), including infrastructure planning, governance model creation, and alignment with the faculty's innovation and engagement goals.
- Work collaboratively with Dean, Department Chair, Administrative Officers, and Program Coordinators; Build and maintain relationships with campus partners and community organizations; Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to support Faculty strategic objectives.
- Oversee all aspects of teacher education programs, ensuring their quality, effectiveness, and alignment with UVic's academic standards through monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams-including the Dean, Department Chair, Administrative Officer, Program Coordinators, and Education Advising-and maintain strong relationships with school districts, mentor teachers, and field advisors to support collaborative program delivery.
- Ensure all teacher education programs meet provincial certification requirements by liaising with the BC Teachers' Council (BCTC), Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB), and Teacher Qualification Service (TQS) and by monitoring teacher candidate certification processes.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Teacher Education Program's strategic goals, align initiatives with UVic's broader institutional priorities, and participate in local and provincial working groups to advance teacher education.
- Teaching experience in K to 12.
- Familiarity with the public education in British Columbia and knowledge of the professional standards and requirements of the British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch and the British Columbia Teachers' Council.
- Supervision and mentoring in professional contexts.
- Effective human relations skills and an ability to interact positively and productively with faculty, staff, students and school personnel.
- Strong organizational abilities, including the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills.
- Computer skills necessary for database management (i.e., MS Work, and MS Excel).
- Flexibility and willingness to accept reasonable variation in the nature and balance of responsibilities and tasks necessitated by the season cycle of work, staff changes and other factors.
