Job SummaryMandate:The Program Coordinators work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Manager of Teacher Education, Department Chair, Administrative Officer, and Education Advising to effectively implement, maintain, and monitor all aspects of the teacher education programs.The Program Coordinators liaise with community organizations, school administrators, mentor teachers, field advisors, and other partners and communities to develop and maintain a strong network of field partners.Reporting to the Manager, Teacher Education, the Program Coordinators work collaboratively to support students and instructors in all teacher education programs through seminars, meetings, developing materials and resources and supporting success in programs.Objectives:
Partner/field Communication develops and maintains networks with internal and external partners; prepares reports and information for internal and external audiences
Documentation and Organization ensures accurate, accessible, and timely documentation of student records related to program and practicum progression
Practicum Placements: ensures appropriate practicum placements and field experiences that meet certification requirements by collaborating with mentors and school administrators
Student Support: tracks student admissions and progress, supports student program success, coordinates practicum planning; develops materials and resources pertinent to the various teacher education programs; provides instructor support and ongoing communication
Strategic planning: contributing to the implementation of the Teacher Education Program's strategic goals, connecting with the broader UVic strategic plans, and participating in local and provincial working groups; supports faculty and department initiatives
Job RequirementsThis position requires a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of administrative and/or teaching experience preferably in the K-12 school system, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge, skills, and abilities include:

A master's degree is considered an asset
Experience working with school administration, teachers, and community agencies
Knowledge of BC K to 12 curriculum and assessment practices
A familiarity with spreadsheets and databases as well as knowledge of Student Management Systems such as BANNER and/or FAST would be preferred
