Job #4878 - We've partnered with a well-established and growing Canadian company that specializes in providing innovative defence and security for an ever-changing world. Reporting to the VP, Finance, we are seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Manager to join their Ottawa-based team. This critical role will oversee a small team of finance professionals as well as the preparation and review of internal and external financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, self-reliant professional with significant and progressive experience in financial reporting and accounting. They will be naturally curious, articulate, personable, and have a passion for work, along with a strong desire to learn and grow. Excellent Excel skills are essential, as is the ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret Level security clearance. Main responsibilities include:
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements
  • Review financial disclosures to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead accounting policy updates and assess ASPE changes
  • Manage month and quarter-end close processes
  • Present financial results to senior leadership and the board
  • Provide expertise on complex accounting issues
  • Liaise with external auditors during interim and year-end audits
  • Strengthening reporting processes and internal controls
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, transparent reporting

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA, CA, or equivalent certification required
  • 6+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or auditing
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Minimum five years of residency in Canada and the ability to obtain Government secret level clearance
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting topics to non-experts
  • Experience in a project environment is an asset
Compensation:
  • $140,000 – $160,000 salary range
