- Provide leadership and guidance to internal and external teams or groups ensuring best utilization of resources, processes, policies and conflict and issue resolution
- Implement the City Plan vision and proactively engage with partners to create and implement programs related to mobility, land use and urban design
- Serve as a City representative for matters related to urban design, mobility and land use planning as related to the section’s roles and responsibilities
- Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement
- Integrate multi-disciplinary teams to work collaboratively with business partners to support corporate priorities
- Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches
- Knowledge, training and/or education in Engineering, Urban Planning or a related discipline
- Experience working with transportation planning and/or land use and policy planning, or similar complex municipal planning
- Leadership experience within a large, complex organization managing a multi-disciplinary team, including the development of staff
- Combinations of education and/or experience will be considered
- Experience working with municipal policy and provincial legislation in a multidisciplinary context
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing and registered as practicing with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation
- Additional training in financial management, public administration, government relations, project management, and/or change management
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships across diverse teams and partners fostering collaboration, trust, and mutual respect
- Operate as a strategically agile leader able to anticipate changes in corporate direction, business opportunities and influence enterprise-wide policy planning and initiatives

- Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position ​may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement ​with ​the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
- Salary: (Annually) - $146,472.00 - $183,091.00
- Hire is dependent on Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
