Division: TechnologyWork Status: Full-Time (Hybrid)Location: Toronto, OntarioAbout the role:As the data practice at Corus continues to evolve, we are currently looking for a talented Data Scientist to contribute to new and ongoing projects, provide thought leadership, and support internal teams by providing business insights via ad-hoc data analysis. This includes the implementation of end-to-end machine learning workflows and the pairing of AI solutions to solve day-to-day challenges as well as increase productivity within legacy processes.We continue to monitor the rapid fluctuations within the AI landscape, including privacy legislation and newly formed AI policies. As such, keeping abreast of the latest research and techniques will help to support the challenge of introducing new methods to tackle hard to solve business problems.As a data scientist on the Data Science team, you will be involved in every aspect of the software development lifecycle from initial concept to model development, deployment, model monitoring, and ongoing support. In addition, you will perform analysis by using statistical techniques to reflect on the best course of action to communicate with stakeholders and business representatives.You will contribute by:
  • Developing models using appropriate data science techniques to generate actionable insights
  • Identifying data sources within the business and integration of those sources into the data technology platforms to support analysis and data workflows
  • Ad hoc analysis as needed and requested by business representatives
  • Thought leadership on data organization, approaches, workflows, and processes that allow the translation of real-world business problems into useful internal and external products and services
  • Maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge around the practice of Data Science and the technology stacks that support it
  • Collaborating with IT, Digital, and Broadcast technology departments to implement data-driven workflow solutions
  • Working with Data Science team members to design and operate the technology stack that supports data analysis
  • Maintaining knowledge about machine learning operational expertise across hybrid cloud platforms
  • Participation in data governance, ethics, and policy initiative
  • Providing operational support for automated data pipelines
  • Assisting to explore, identify, and construct business use cases for the integration of artificial intelligence technology
  • Supporting technical proposals for external/internal products and services
  • Providing regular support to stakeholders/clients as needed
Skills and experience you will bring:
  • BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or other related field
  • Expertise in data science related development language (we currently use Python, but the ability to code in another languages is welcome)
  • Experience working with cloud-based technology stacks for data analytics, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure
  • Ability to evaluate hypotheses and build statistical models
  • Demonstrated expertise in Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and various machine learning methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience operating within an Agile framework
  • Skilled in data visualization and presenting data-driven insights
  • Understanding of the engineering/software development lifecycle
  • Strong communicator, able to collaborate with technical teams and translate information for non-technical stakeholders easily
  • Proven capacity to deliver excellent results to stakeholders/clients
  • Commitment to continuous learning in a fast-evolving industry
  • Effective communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
